Implementing 'Stepping Stones'
Publication Date: December 01, 2007This is a guide for practitioners and policy makers that provides a range of ACORD guidelines drawn from both internal and external experiences in using Stepping Stones in its HIV work.
The idea for the development of this guide grew out of an ACORD project aimed at assessing the impact of Stepping Stones in reducing vulnerability of young girls and women which was implemented in 3 countries - Angola, Tanzania and Uganda between 2004 and 2006. This project culminated into an international conference on Stepping Stones hosted by ACORD in July 2006 which was attended by users of Stepping Stones and others with an interest in the approach. One of the recommendations from the conference participants was for ACORD to develop some guidelines drawing from its own and others' experiences of using Stepping Stones in order to help others implement the approach and promote the highest possible standards wherever it is used.
The guide is published to enhance the quality impact of Stepping Stones so as to achieve the best possible results within programmes. More information about ACORD's work on HIV and AIDS is also available online.
